Sr. UX Designer

Summary

This role is part of an Amazon Special Projects team that takes the company’s Think Big leadership principle to the extreme.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and improve upon our product design process - starting from early research and hypothesis, through defining requirements, creating user flows, wireframes, visual designs, and prototypes to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors that support decision making and development.
  • Partner closely with UX Research to collaborate on research plans and clearly communicate the key research questions we need answers to. Independently utilize lean user research methods to make quick design decisions when needed. Can include interviews, observation sessions, and remote user tests, and be able to synthesize research findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with fellow designers, give and receive feedback gracefully, and can act as a mentor to junior designers.
  • Own UX from beginning to end and ensure product/feature is built to spec and achieves project goals.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with local and remote cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with project goals.
  • Drive the evolution of creative and holistic thinking across diverse product releases.
  • Elevate the visual design of the customer experience to drive higher engagement.
  • Effectively advocate and design for the customer through objective data such as market analysis, customer insights, technical constraints/opportunities, and business insights.
  • Present design work to UX partners, cross-disciplinary teams, and executive leaders.
  • Contribute to and help manage a design system in Figma (components, usage guidelines, documentation) so that other team members can get what they need intuitively and efficiently.
  • Contribute to the group’s best practices for UX design while continually advocating design thinking, process, and craft throughout our organization.

  • 8+ years of design experience
  • Have an available online portfolio
  • Experience defining and maintaining design patterns and UX standards

  • Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision, or similar
  • Experience working with stakeholders to plan and execute programs that are strategic in nature
  • Knowledge of usability principles and techniques
